Drinking Water Contamination
Drinking water contamination is when your drinking water is known to contain hazardous contaminants or pollutants. The most effective method of reducing drinking water contamination is by controlling it at the source. Preventative measures such as modification of tilling methods and run-off control in agriculture, the use of lined catchment ponds for treatment of wastes, and double lined underground storage tanks can greatly reduce drinking water contamination by addressing the problem at the source. As consumers, we can educate ourselves about the source of our tap water, the possibility of drinking water contamination affecting it, and the options for treating our drinking water should it become contaminated.
